The first CD I ever owned (I received it as a birthday gift back in the early 90's, I didn't even own a CD player yet), was the original cast album of The Secret Garden. It is a gorgeous musical, packed with emotion and wonderful songs, great story.
I've always wanted to do the show - I think most people involved in musical theater would - and now I have been cast in a production that will bow this May for a six week run. I didn't get a principal role, or even a supporting role...I was cast in a "cameo" role, someone named William (who isn't even listed in the character breakdown). But that's okay. It's for a very good company here in town, and they always put on a good show. Rehearsals start week after next.
Today I took delivery of my new partials. Upper and lower.
I hate them already. The entire roof of my mouth is covered in metal when I wear them, and wearing the partials triggers my gag reflex (pesky). They also make me talk funny. I don't mind the bottom part too much, its really just the uppers that suck! Oh well. By the way...is this too much information?
Miles is good. Still has a lot of puppy destructive behaviors...that will go away (but probably not for years). He's adorable and cuddly.
That's the news for today. Hope you are having a wonderful week.

I couldn't recall the musical (while knowing the book, of course) as it must have crept in under my radar, but I see that it did run for a not-very-long period over here a decade or so ago. The reviews I've just read are quite disparate but I'd still like to see it, especially now with you showing off your 'William' which, despite a low-level presence, I'm sure will make the critics sit up. Very good luck with it!
ReplyDeleteThose oral fixtures look like torture implements - and from what you say that's what they feel like too. Blasted nuisance; though if that's what the experts say you gotta have, then you just gotta have. Hope they'll soon get, erm, accustomed to your face. ;-)
So pleased to hear that you can still use those nice adjectives for Miles. Keep reminding him how lucky he is to have you for an owner. That's what I'm always telling my pussies, though as I spoil them something rotten they don't really give a hoot. But give Miles a kiss on the nose for me. Even though dogs require considerably more effort to keep happy and comfy than cats do, the devotion they give in return is irreplaceable - but you already know that, don't you?
Cheers, Mark. (And so good to hear from you again.)
Those things do look like something from the 19th century! Congratulations on getting cast in TSG. I remember when it premiered in NYC -- the entire creative team and much of the production team were women -- to good reviews and ran for a year and a half. I've managed to miss it somehow over the years, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteTSG remains one of my favorite shows.
ReplyDeleteI miss your posts.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great holiday season.
